Galactic Junkrod is a Hard Rock / Sleaze Punk band that blends influence from Motley Crue, Motorhead, Led Zeppelin, The Ramones, and Zodiac Mindwarp into their own no rules just have fun style of Rock-n-Roll. Some have tried to figure out what Galactic Junkrod sounds like. Though honestly, we don’t even know what to call it. But we are having a blast writing and recording. And we hope you enjoy it too!
From the beginning, Galactic Junkrod was all about having a good time. It began in Milwaukee, WI when Jonny and Ricki wanted to try their hands at different instruments. So, Jonny, a seasoned bass player, picked up the Rhythm Guitar, and Ricki, a lifelong drummer, switched to bass. The writing began and it was recognized that some instrument specific talent was needed. That’s when Joey, a rock-solid drummer, was recruited to drive the band. Now we needed someone who could actually sing the lyrics. In came Dean, a charismatic frontman, to bring the songs to life. The band was turning out better than we had hoped. It became apparent that an awesome lead guitarist was a must to complete the lineup. A few calls were made, and Chomp arrived to put the icing on the cake. After a few rehearsals, the band began recording their first EP, Lick’em if They Can’t Take a Joke!
As time went on, the members scattered across the country. While Jonny and Joey still live in Wisconsin, Dean relocated to California, and Ricki to Arizona. Unfortunately, Chomp was too busy to join us for this go ‘round. So, Bobby, a talented Milwaukee native in Arizona, and close friend of the band, joined in on Lead Guitar to add the musical expertise.
This time, we knew recording was going to be logistically challenged. But we had a plan, we had the Internet, and we had computers. Everyone setup small home studios. Jonny and Ricki began writing riffs. Dean and Ricki jumped on writing lyrics. Then, we all started tracking our parts. In a few short months, through the spring and summer of 2021, we went from concept to finished songs. The combined effort is the latest Galactic Junkrod release, Glitter Squirtn’ Hemi.
